At The Welcome Room, you will be working with a counsellor who is currently completing their professional counselling training. Although they are still in training, our counsellors have already reached an important stage in their development and have been assessed as ready to work with clients.

Ready to work with clients

All of our counsellors have successfully passed their Readiness to Practice Assessment, a formal evaluation carried out by their accredited training institution. This assessment ensures that they have demonstrated the skills, ethical understanding and professional competence needed to begin working with clients independently.

Supported throughout their placement

Our counsellors are not working alone. They receive regular clinical supervision and ongoing support throughout their placement with The Welcome Room. This provides them with a space to reflect on their work, develop their skills and make sure they are working safely and ethically.

Your sessions are just between you and your counsellor

Your counselling sessions are conducted solely between you and your counsellor, providing a safe, confidential and professional space for you to talk about what is important to you.

Each counsellor is responsible for their own therapeutic practice and for the clients they work with. Their placement with The Welcome Room gives them the opportunity to continue developing their experience and skills while providing you with dedicated one-to-one counselling.

What does this mean for you?

Choosing to work with a trainee counsellor means you receive one-to-one support from someone who has demonstrated that they are ready to work with clients, while also benefiting from the additional support and oversight that comes with their professional training and clinical supervision.

We are confident in the quality of care our trainee counsellors provide and are committed to supporting them as they develop into qualified counsellors.
